In preparation for ION Light Rail Transit (ION LRT) service, we’re hiring Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Operators in the Region of Waterloo.

As an LRV Operator, you will be at the forefront of the ION LRT, providing high quality, reliable service on the 19km track, from the Conestoga Station in Waterloo to the Fairway Station in Kitchener.

About The Job

LRV Operators have many important responsibilities that are vital to the success of the ION LRT in the Region of Waterloo. The safety of our passengers and community is always their first responsibility. They are also, of course, responsible for operating the LRV in a way that passengers can depend on – ensuring that timelines are met and passengers are well-informed of any service changes.

In addition to being safety and customer focused, candidates must have excellent English communication skills, a valid Class G driver’s licence, and a high school diploma.

Keolis Grand River is using a five-step hiring process for LRV Operators.  You must successfully complete each step before becoming eligible to move on to the next step.

Successfully completing a step does not guarantee that you will be invited to participate in the next step.

  1. Fill Out the Application
    You’ll start by completing an online application, which includes submitting your resume on Indeed. We will also ask you to answer a few questions to help us understand your motivation in pursuing a career with us and your fit for the LRV Operator opportunity.

  2. Aptitude Assessment
    The second step is to complete an online aptitude assessment to determine your suitability for the role.

  3. Interview
    In this step, representatives from our operations and human resources teams will meet you in-person to get to know you better. Behavioural questions will be asked to assess your fit with Keolis. You will also be asked to provide work-related references that Keolis may contact.

  4. Dashboard Assessment & Tour
    As the last step, we will invite you to conduct a computer-based practical assessment. This assessment will help measure your attention to detail, multi-tasking, responsiveness and manual dexterity. You will also be provided a tour of our facility and have the opportunity to ask us questions. This activity will take approximately 2 hours at our Keolis Grand River facility.

  5. Candidate Pool
    Congratulations! You have successfully completed all the steps in the LRV Operator hiring process. You are now entered in to our pool of successful candidates. Once training is confirmed we will provide the job offer, and arrange the post-offer medical assessment, including a drug/ alcohol test as well as a background check.
